The intoxicating smell of cinnamon, “polvorones” and “mantecados” in autumn, and of virgin olive oil in winter overwhelms even those that go along the A-92 motorway, attracting the senses of the drivers who open the window to let in the scent. This is a town to be discovered, a town with a rich gastronomy, in which history still lives through her monuments and which is at the same time a vantage point and the heart of Andalucía.
Gastronomy, monuments and landscape… we are surely talking of Estepa.
White houses, steep streets, churches and small palaces give shape to its quarters and tell of her history. Stones from time immemorial and corners which conceal a thousand secrets and stories.
Estepa, a defiant castle that once dominated the battlefield below and from which you can now look out over the colourful countryside, invites any travellers who catch a glimpse from afar to stop to take a walk and lose themselves in the town’s winding alleyways.
